Name: David Aide
Life History: I was born and raised in a Pastor’s home and spent a lot of my younger years sleeping on a church pew. I have three siblings, an older brother, and younger brother and sister (twins). I grew up in Huntsville Ont. where the only two things you could do in the winter (besides going to school), was to play hockey and downhill ski. I did both.
After high school, I enrolled at Eastern Pentecostal Bible College in Peterborough, graduating in 1967. It was there I met a sweet, petite young lady from Prince Edward Island named Gloria. On August 27, 1966, in Charlottetown P.E.I. she became my wife thus beginning a wonderful adventure that has continued for 43 years.
On a freezing cold January day in 1968 we moved to Thedford Ont. to begin our ministry at our first church. I was the Senior (only) Pastor and Gloria inherited the role of Senior Pastor’s wife. She was and still is a great pastor’s wife. Since the early days of Thedford we’ve pastored in a number of Southern Ontario communities including: Petrolia; Dunnville; Orangeville, and Cambridge.
During my years of pastoring, I felt a growing desire to work with individuals who were in need of professional counselling from a Christian perspective. To help meet this growing need I enrolled from 1979 to 1992 in part-time studies, graduating from McMaster University with a B.A. in Psychology in 1984, and from Wilfred Laurier University (Waterloo Lutheran Seminary) with a Master in Theological Studies in Pastoral Counselling in 1992.
What do I do at Calvary: My responsibilities at Calvary include working with the PrimeTimers (Seniors) and counsellng at Emmaus Counselling Center.
Words to live by: The ultimate goal for my life is to live to”the praise of His Glory.”
Time off? In my spare time I like woodworking and spending time at our cottage.
